Winner of the placing it at the center of contemporary reflection.

The work, edited by Maria Paola Zedda, is structured around the question of migrations and diasporas from the South of the world which see the Mediterranean transformed into a place of waiting, suspension, passing, into a solid space of embodiment of absence. The sea becoming a body is realized through the staging of a ritual inspired by the funeral cries of the Mediterranean basin, a theme on which the artist began researching during a residency in Beirut.

Crossroads of current diasporas, the sea is here conceived as a place of reception and storage of bodies and also as a body in itself that weaves and documents ancient and contemporary funeral laments through the choral reconstruction of a rite carried out with the involvement of local and migrant women .

The project is carried out by an international partnership that links ZEIT (leader), MAN Museum of Nuoro, Teatro di Sardegna, Arts Center 404 /VierNulVier (Ghent, BE), Flux Factory (NYC),

It will be created with the collaboration of the Sardegna Film Commission Foundation, supported by ARS – Arte Condivisa in Sardegna for the Sardinia Foundation (project sponsor).

Acquired by the MAMbo Museum in Bologna, the artist’s city of residence, the work will be promoted through presentations and exhibitions at Arts Center 404 / VierNulVier, Flux Factory in New York, Bunker in Ljubljana, and presented in Milan thanks to the cultural partnership of Careof , in Bari at the BIG Bari International Gender Festival, in Puglia at RAMDOM, Sa Manifattura and Exmà in Cagliari.
