8 October – AMACI Contemporary Day

8 Oct 2022

AMACI Contemporary Day – Marina Apollonio – guest at the MAN Museum in Nuoro as part of the exhibition “SENSORAMA The gaze, the things, the deceptions”.

On the occasion of the Eighteenth edition of the Contemporary Day promoted by AMACI scheduled for Saturday 8 October 2022, the MAN presents a public meeting with Marina Apollonius , a leading figure in the field of international optical and kinetic research from the 1960s onwards. The artist from Trieste brought an edition of her famous work to the MAN Kinetic Activation Space 6B (1966-2022), a vinyl floor installation with a diameter of 5 meters where her studies stimulated by Gibson’s experiments on the optical structure saw her create, on a two-dimensional surface, depth effects capable of deceiving perception and generate the enveloping sensation of a solid cylindrical cavity.

Protagonist of the Central Pavilion at this year’s Venice Biennale, Marina Apollonio has always investigated the phenomenal possibilities of elementary forms and structures. Having chosen a primary shape such as the circle, he explored every structural variation in order to “activate” an internal motion, a harbinger of dynamic relationships between the work and the environment.
